After the last few races, we were feeling pretty confident that we have gotten our heads around what we've been doing wrong with the car. Kevin would start 5th for the heat race and at the green the pole sitter would have trouble of some kind and drop back through the pack...Kevin couldn't do anything but stay behind him...once getting shuffled to the back, Kevin would clear the struggling car and begin his move forward. Working the high line once again, he continued his charge, passing 6th, 5th and then 4th. At the end he had caught up to the 2nd and 3rd place cars. This would be a good sign. Starting 10th for the feature, we made very little to no changes for the feature.
Right off of the start just about everyone was running the low line, Kevin took to his favorite high side and proceeded to pass several cars on the first lap. A yellow at half way slowed the field and Kevin's charge to the front. The yellow was for a car that slowed suddenly and apparently was trying to get off the track, Kevin had little time to react and helped him off...haha...with a little damage to the left front nose, Kevin would restart in 6th. The car wasn't the same after that, but we still strong enough to challenge the 49 car, verteran Brian Rulhman for 5th, but would eventually fade a little before the last yellow for a spin by the 4th place car, putting us 5th. With a wounded, but overall much better car, Kevin and the rest of the top 5 would pull away from the rest of the field over the last hand full of laps. Overall we were very pleased with how the weekend went. Hopefully we can continue our momentum into the end of the season.
We are starting to look for marketing partners for the 2010 season and maybe some more traveling. If you know of someone or you would like to get involved by becoming one of Reeve Racing's marketing partners, please feel free to call the shop. More updates to come.
